Property

A. Buildings, contents, unregistered vehicles, plant and equipment, glass, money, computers, electronic data.

A. Claim payments are made on a Replacement and/or Reinstatement basis. ( i.e. new for old). QGIF does not apply any depreciation when paying your Agency’s property claim. Costs associated with meeting current statutory requirements, architects and/or engineers fees, removal of debris in replacing or reinstating the property is included. QGIF does not pay ‘betterment ‘costs i.e. replacing a wooden shed with an aluminium one.

A. This is noted on your Agency’s Insurance Certificate.

A. The property section covers insurable assets that are in the Agency’s care, custody or control and for which they are responsible for.

A. Increased costs due to a claimable event such as a fire, flood etc. These additional costs may be in relation to paying staff overtime, the cost of temporary office accommodation, or relocation. Before you can claim for these increased costs, a Property claim must exist under Part 1 – Material Loss or Damage.

Personal Accident and Illness

A. An injury as is defined in the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003.

A. Nil as an excess does not apply to the Personal Accident & Illness Section.

A. QGIF strongly recommends that all Agencies have a volunteer register.  We suggest that the register includes details such as:-

  • Volunteers Name
  • Address
  • Duties to be carried out
  • Dates volunteering carried out
  • Details of training provided, etc.

A. No, the definition of a volunteer is “Any person who works without payment (other than out of pocket expenses) for the Agency and acts under the direction and supervision of the Agency”. The key words of the definition in this instance are “under the direction and supervision of the Agency”. As the person has been engaged because of their skill set and trained in their field of engagement they would fall outside the definition of a volunteer because the Agency has not provided the training and supervision of their services for which they are being engaged.

Marine

A. Please refer to your Agency’s Insurance Certificate for details of any applicable excess.

A. Claim payments are made on a Replacement and/or Reinstatement basis (i.e. new for old). QGIF does not apply any depreciation when paying your Agency’s claim.

A. Yes, the sum insured is inclusive of the vessel, motors, equipment and trailer.

A. All watercraft acquired by an insured Agency at any time during the period of insurance is automatically covered subject to the terms of its insurance with QGIF.  QGIF only needs to be notified should your Agency purchase or sell watercraft of significant value eg: A $2M patrol boat.

Aviation

A. Please refer to your Agency’s Insurance Certificate for details of any applicable excess.

A. No. Effective 1 July 2016, drones and unmanned aircraft are covered under the Property and General Liability sections of QGIF’s Insurance Policy – Statement of Cover.

A.  Yes.  While all aircraft acquired by an insured Agency at any time during the period of insurance is automatically covered subject to the terms of its insurance with QGIF, you will need to advise us of the following:

  • Asset ID
  • Year of manufacture
  • Make and model of aircraft
  • Registration number
  • Type of aircraft – e.g. rotary or fixed wing
  • Passenger seating capacity
  • Replacement value in Australian dollars
  • Aircraft usage
  • Whether the aircraft will operate outside the Commonwealth of Australia. If yes, please provide details.

A. Yes. This liability cover is included under Aviation Cover – Part 2 – Legal Liability
